Walk On The Water

Can you imagine how Peter must have felt as he stood on the boat looking out into the sea? Off in the distance he sees Jesus telling him to come out to where He is, but between him & Jesus he sees darkness, the storm & the waves beating against the boat. He knew Jesus was telling him to take a step of faith out into the water, but can you imagine the fear that gripped his heart looking at everything else going on around him? I’ve never walked on water before but I would have to think that would have been kind of a scary thing to do in his situation, but the cool thing was, he did it! Sure he sank for a minute & Jesus had to pull him out of the water, but regardless Peter still walked on the water!
Maybe you’ve felt like that in your life before too. Here you are standing at the edge of your decision & Jesus is saying, “take a step of faith this way.” You can see Jesus standing on the other side of your decision, but you can also see all the things standing between you & Him, that are trying to pull you under. Boy do I know how that feels! Been there many times, but the good news is if we will take that step of faith to “walk out on the water” so to speak, He is going to be right there to catch us is we fall!
I’ve been talking about my decision to do something new with my music & ministry & I can remember last year being at that point where God was calling me to step out into new waters & walk in faith & I was so unsure & so afraid thinking things like, “What will other people think? Others will not like this idea“, or “How will I afford to do this?” But I realized God wasn’t asking me to have it all figured out, He just wanted me to say Yes & take that first step of faith out into the water. Wouldn’t you know it as soon as I made the decision to walk out into new waters I lost my voice for a year, it was not fun, but the good news is I’m doing pretty well now & things are beginning to finally move forward & I am excited!
There is a song that God has been using over the past few weeks to really encourage & inspire me called “Walk On The Water” by my favorite Christian artist named Britt Nicole. I wanted to share the lyrics with you this week hoping they would inspire & encourage you as much as they have me. Check them out & don’t ever be afraid to walk on the water, & do something great for God!
“Walk On The Water” by Britt Nicole
You look around
It's staring back at you
Another wave of doubt
Will it pull you under
You wonder
What if I'm overtaken
What if I never make it
What if no one's there?
Will you hear my prayer?
When you take that first step
Into the unknown
You know that he won't let you go
Chorus:
So what are you waiting for?
What do you have to lose?
Your insecurities try to alter you
You know you're made for more
So don't be afraid to move
Your faith is all
It takes and you can
Walk on the water too
Verse 2:
So get out
And let
Your fear fall to the ground
No time to waste
Don't wait
Don't you turn around and miss out
Everything you were made for
I know you're not sure
So you play it safe
Try to run away
If you take that first step
Into the unknown
He won't let you go
(chorus)
Bridge:
(step out)
Even when its storming
(step out)
Even when you're broken
(step out)
Even when your heart is telling you telling you to give up
(step out)
When your hope is stolen
(step out)
You can't see where you're going
You don't have to be afraid
So what are you waiting,
What are you waiting for?
So what are you waiting for?
What do you have to lose?
Your insecurities try to alter you
You know you're made for more
So don't be afraid to move
Your faith is all
It takes and you can
Walk on the water...
Walk on the water too
